So much has happened since my last entry. I had forgotten about this blog but came across it the other night. I need to do a better job of keeping a journal so it's going to have to be online because that's the only way I'll have time to do it.

OK. Since my last entry, I have left Kiona-Benton HS to accept a position as the journalism teacher at Richland High. I'm a Bomber. It's been a good move, not without some difficulties, but still a good move. I've been there 5 months--a far cry from the 17 years at Ki-Be, but it's starting to feel like home. I miss Rick Harding, Tim Bisson, Kim Mahaffey, Clark Brown, and Mike Neumann. But other than that I really like Richland.

The journalism program is going ok. Things started out rough because the lady I replaced wouldn't leave. The principal, Steve Neill, had to literally call her in August and tell her to clean her stuff out so I could move in. Five months later I still get weekly e-mails from her reminding me of things I "need" to do. Let it go lady. I came in to this year knowing that I'd have to struggle through with kids that Robin selected. It's been tough; I've had several quit. That's ok. I'm just filling the open spots with "my" kids. I've very excited because I've got a great group of sophomore and junior girls who are going to be the heart of the program for the next little while.

Another neat thing about being at Richland is getting to see Eric every day. I'll admit there are days he and his friends drive me crazy, but I try to remember that in the not-to-distant future I will be lamenting the fact that he's graduated and left me alone at RHS. The time does go fast.
