Yikes!! I can't believe it's been 3 months since I've posted on my blog. I need to do a better job. At leadership camp last week we stressed to the kids the need for reflection. It's been said that we never truly learn something from an experience until we reflect on what is was that we experienced. I apologize for not posting.
As for leadership camp, it was awesome--really one of my best years ever. It was my 6th year as a senior counselor at the Mt. Baker Leadership Camp. The camp is held at the Cispus Learning Center. It's a beautiful, magical place about 30 miles from Mt. St. Helens, in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. This year was extra special because Eric was a delegate. He had a great time and my friends on staff loved him. He got to work with Wade, Ben, Eleanor, Marty and Bobby and others.
I had a great council this year. My entire council was made up of kids from Sedro Woolley High School. What an awesome group of kids. I'm so sad that I won't be able to work with them during the school year. They were all so kind, so considerate, so sweet. I absolutely loved them. I'll post our council picture when Marty sends it to me.
It's such a strange experience. We're only at camp for 6 days--not long. But we spend so much time together and sometimes share such personal things with one another that we get really close. I'm always excited to get home from camp but I always go through camp withdrawals. I miss my council kids and the senior staff. It usually takes a couple of days to get over. I'm in Day 2 now--doing much better than I was last night, especially considering I was home alone. Eric was out with friends, Marlee was in Colorado visiting her cousin Allie, and Shannon is in Europe with Chris Bowers.
I'll post more later.
